Arizona Quest for Kids supports and educates a student’s whole family about high school curriculum and graduation, college admission, and higher education; this is especially valuable for the population served. For families in which parents and older siblings are not college-educated, and/or families that have limited English skills, it can be extremely difficult to understand and navigate the K-12 and public university system in the U.S.

For many students, particularly first-generation college bound students, multiple barriers block access to the path of higher education, including financial hardship and concerns and a general lack of understanding about the educational pipeline. Parents are often not equipped with or exposed to the necessary information to fully plan and prepare for postsecondary education for their children. Therefore, Arizona Quest for Kids partners with Arizona State University’s American Dream Academy to offer an educational workshop series on postsecondary education preparation. Parents are required to attend a workshop series once while their child is in 5th through 8th grade and once while their child is in 9th through 12th grade. Ongoing annual workshops include 8th grade Transition to High School Nights and Fall Orientation.
