Arizona Quest for Kids' organizational goals encompass four areas fundamental to creating a successful path to college admittance and graduation. This path is developed through the following goals: 1) provide youth with meaningful relationships with caring adults through mentoring, 2) broaden the life experiences of youth  through enrichment activities, 3) ensure, through intensive college guidance, that youth are eligible to apply for both admission to the college/university of their choice, as well as the ability to seek out financial support to fund their college education, and 4) provide parents with the knowledge and skills to best help their children in their quest for a college education.

In Phoenix, there are at least 34 mentor organizations, some of which are geared to specific specializations or populations. What sets Arizona Quest for Kids apart from other organizations is the way in which mentoring is just one part of a larger effort to close the achievement gap, improve college readiness and preparation, and broaden the horizons of low-income youth. Along with long-term, one-on-one mentoring, Arizona Quest for Kids students participate in academic workshops and conferences, community service activities, enrichment opportunities, tours and visits to colleges, guest speaker events, leadership opportunities, and cultural field trips.
